The map shows major geological formations, based on the 1:250,000 scale Geological Map of New Zealand. Major faultlines are shown in in red and the map is overlaid with roads (orange) and rivers (blue). The grid cells are 10km and 1km cells, in the NZTM co-ordinate system (in kilometres): add three zeroes (multiply by 1000) to convert to the standard 7-digit (1 metre) reference system.
Note: Geological data are derived from the GNS Science Geology Web Map Client (http://data.gns.cri.nz/geology/). Other data are derived from the LINZ digital topographic data (https://data.linz.govt.nz/data/category/topographic/maps/).
