Welcome to the Nelson Rock and Mineral Club
Our interests cover all things geological, including rocks, minerals and microminerals, gemstones, fossils, geological history, mapping, mining and microscopy,
We have regular meetings and field trips, run our own research projects, and provide access to a range of facilities including a geological library, finds shop, rock cutter, tumbler, microscope and database of local finds.
We have a permanent base in the Waimea Rooms at the Richmond A&P Grounds, where we hold our meetings, store our collection and run workshops.
Paying members of the Club are granted free membership of the A&P Association, which gives free access to the annual show.

Club meetingsThe club meets every month for an evening of presentations, discussions and displays, with a field trip to a local site (usually the following weekend,)

Projects and studiesWe organise and run projects to investigate the local geology. Our current project is focused on the Triassic rocks of the Wakefield area.

Local GeologyThe Nelson area is one of the most diverse areas of geology in New Zealand, with rocks spanning the entire sequence from Cambrian to Recent.
