Egypt wins CAVB Women's Volleyball African Nations Championship, secures Olympic 2028 berth

At the recently concluded CAVB Women's Volleyball African Nations Championship, the Egyptian national team defeated Kenya 3-0 in the final, securing a historic first qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This victory not only confirms Egypt's top status in African women's volleyball but also opens significant opportunities for the sport's development in the region. Kenya won the silver medal, while Cameroon took bronze. Both teams also officially secured tickets to the 2027 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Cup, giving Africa a total of three berths in the world's most prestigious tournaments. Individually, Egypt's outside hitter Nada Ahmed Houssameldein (Meawad) scored 14 points (2 kill blocks, 1 ace). Her teammate Mariam Metwally Mohamed Morsy (Meeto) contributed 12 points. For Kenya, Veronica Adhiambo Oluoch recorded 11 points (2 aces, 1 kill block) and Elizabeth Marian Sokoiyo added 10 points.
