Vietnam U20 Exit at Asian Qualifiers: Apology Is Data, But Tactics Remain an Enigma

The final whistle blew away from home, and the Vietnam U20 players stood still in front of the electronic scoreboard. The number 1-3 appeared clearly next to Iran. No consolation goal, no win in the entire qualifiers. Soon after, the captain and the head coach stepped in front of the cameras and bowed in apology to the fans. Head coach Yutaka Ikeuchi said: “We considered different options to achieve the best possible result, but unfortunately we could not accomplish our goal.” Captain Quoc Khanh also apologized to supporters and future generations of Vietnamese youth football.
